Navratri is one of the biggest occasions of India, which is celebrated with great devotion in India during Chaturmas when Lord Vishnu goes in hibernation in the oceans. Right from North to South, Navratri is observed by all ages and genders in the form of keeping fasts on the auspicious days. It is said that, whosoever dedicatedly worships the nine forms of Goddess Laxmi, is bestowed with peace and prosperity as it a time when there are no negative vibes prevailing anywhere in the surroundings. One should know that merely worshipping the Goddess does not bring prosperity for the devotee. It is very important to adhere to the Vastu tips that must be followed by everyone during Navratri. Below are some of the significant tips that one must duly consider during the nine days of Navratri:
Place an idol of Goddess and Kalash:
- According to religious belief, Kalash represents the auspiciousness of Goddess Durga.
- Keeping the idol and Kalash (copper or earthen) helps bring positivity in the house. It also brings peace and harmony in the house.
- One must not touch the Kalash during the 9 auspicious days of Navratri.
Lightning up the Akhand Jyoti:
- Lightening a Diya in Hindu culture is symbolic in many ways.
- It not only represents the spreading of light, but also a lot of positivity and joy around it.
- The lamp is a way through which the devotee expresses his or her endless devotion towards Goddess Durga by keeping a thread in the diya which continues to burn for all 9 days.
- Navratri is the most important and auspicious occasion of Hindus and hence the contents that are used to light up the diya must be very pure and rich. For example- Only desi ghee must be used for lightning up of the Akhand Jyot.
- One must avoid using Mustard oil for burning the Akhand Jyoti.
Sowing Barley seeds:
- Sowing the seeds of Barley on the first day of Navratri signifies new energies, prosperity and abundance, and is also related to the agrarian economy of India.
- On the 9th day of Navratri, after the Puja of Goddess Laxmi, the seedlings, which grow upto 5 inches (the inches signify the amount of wealth that the devotee will earn), are submerged in water.
- The lengths of the seedlings are considered proportional to the blessings that Goddess bestows on the devotee.
Avoiding the usage of Garlic and Onion:
- Onion and garlic should not consumed or used during 9 days of Navratri as they have a very strong smell. They distract the concentration of the devotee because of their staunch smell.
- Onion and garlic are also said to be tamasic items, and hence, their consumption attracts negativity instead of positivity.
Colours that must be used on the different days of Navratri :
- Nine forms of Goddess Durga are worshipped in Navratri. Each day is represented by a different Goddess and is associated with respective colors.
- For example- Goddess Shailputri is worshipped on the first day of Navratri and the colour that the devotee must wear on this day is Red in order to get the blessings of Maa Shailputri.
